August 1, 2019

The Chandler Governance Group (CGG) met with Vietnam’s Hanoi University of Home Affairs (HUHA) on 13 August 2019 for the signing ceremony of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between both organisations. The MOU aims to establish a partnership to improve public service quality through training and research.

HUHA is a higher education institution directly under the Ministry of Home Affairs (MOHA). Its mission includes the training of provincial and local government leaders and officials, and to train the future pipeline of graduate talent for Vietnam’s civil service. It organises and conducts training programmes in areas such as public sector human resource management, state management, international cooperation and research to support socio-economic development.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Associate Prof. Dr Nguyen Ba Chien, Rector of HUHA said: “Today, the Hanoi University of Home Affairs is very happy to welcome and work with the Chandler Governance Group so that both organisations can share the possibilities of cooperation in the field of fostering and enhancing the capacity of Vietnamese civil servants and officials, improving the quality of governance in public service and improvement of public service provision. The MOU shows the will and direction for the cooperative activities that can be implemented by the two sides in the future.”
Also present was Mr Tran Luu Trung, Director of International Cooperation Department from the Ministry of Home Affairs. He added, “MOHA welcomes the Chandler Governance Group and for your support in what will be a long-term process”.
"This MOU is the foundation for future training, research and advisory work with CGG. Our joint collaboration will be very meaningful and important."
Executive Director of CGG Wu Wei Neng expressed CGG’s strong support for the MOU. He explained that CGG was established to support governments in research, training and advisory work, and that there were many common goals shared by CGG and HUHA. Both parties agreed to form a working group and task force to determine the direction of both immediate and longer term collaboration.
