CGG Trains Kenyan Public Sector Leaders on Citizen-Centricity

NAIROBI (Kenya), 19 May 2022 — Following the inauguration in March 2022, the 51 fellows from the inaugural cohort of the Public Service Emerging Leaders Fellowship (PSELF) programme were welcomed back at the Kenya School of Government (KSG) for the second residential segment of the programme, which was held from 9-13 May 2022.

Designed by CGG, the curriculum for this second segment was on Citizen-centricity. Over the week, the fellows were taken through a series of modules which explored different facets of citizen-centricity such as operating with a citizens-first mindset and understanding public accountability and oversight. CGG Fellow, Mr. Sharath Jeevan OBE, also delivered a module on motivation and purpose in the public service.

In addition to the classroom training, the fellows also went on field visits to front-line service centres in Nairobi such as the Huduma centres and Registry of Persons offices. This allowed the fellows to interact with citizens and understand how government services are delivered.

The fellows found the module to be very insightful and said:

“I look forward to more of this in the future. The personal statement mission was a take home, something I never got to learn from any school.”

The programme was delivered through a blended learning approach. In addition to the traditional face-to-face teaching, the fellows could also access online asynchronous content that was developed by CGG and delivered via our online learning portal.  Through this, the Fellows were able to stay engaged in learning in between programme segments, and to do so at their own pace. In addition, the inclusion of social learning features on the online portal allowed fellows to engage with each other on the learning content, thus building opportunities for peer learning.

We are heartened that the learning portal played a key role in enhancing the positive learning experience for the fellows.
