November 27, 2024

KAMPALA (Uganda), 27 November 2024 – The Chandler Governance Group (CGG) and the Government of Uganda have successfully concluded a 3-day training workshop on integrity and anti-corruption. Building on CGG’s ongoing partnership with the Government of Uganda to strengthen public sector integrity and governance, the workshop brought together 45 participants from 23 different ministries, departments and agencies.
Facilitated by CGG experts, Professor Soh Kee Hean and Professor Christopher Stone, the workshop covered the fundamentals of public sector integrity and anti-corruption, including ethical governance and decision-making, understanding and measuring corruption, and the risks, tools and tactics for confronting corruption. Through interactive scenario exercises and real-world case studies, participants also explored practical ways to test out and incorporate the discussed good practices in their roles as public managers.

The workshop was officially opened by Hon Beti Kamya Turwomwe, the Inspector General of Government, and Mr Joel Wanjala, the Accounting Officer of the Directorate for Ethics and Integrity. Both leaders emphasised the critical need for integrity and anti-corruption capacity building for Uganda’s ongoing fight against corruption, noting the timeliness of this workshop and encouraging the participants to apply the knowledge gained to strengthen the Government’s anti-corruption practices and strategies.

In his closing remarks, Mr Wu Wei Neng, the Chief Executive Officer of CGG, highlighted the collaborative approach of CGG’s partnership with the Government of Uganda, reaffirming CGG’s commitment to supporting the Government’s anti-corruption efforts through targeted capacity building, sharing of international good practices, as well as development of home-grown tools and solutions.
