CAG Delivers Training Programme to Develop Public Sector Leadership Capabilities in Vietnam

HANOI (Vietnam), 11 November 2022— Over 20 senior Vietnamese public sector leaders successfully completed the second segment of the Modern and Effective National Governance Programme for Emerging Leaders (MENGPEL), which was held in Hanoi from 7 -11 November 2022. Jointly designed and delivered by the Chandler Academy of Governance (CAG) and the National Academy of Public Administration (NAPA) of Vietnam, MENGPEL seeks to develop public sector capabilities, which is a foundation for strong nations. CAG is the learning and development division of the Chandler Governance Group (CGG).

The second segment was focused on helping the participants to identify and apply the essential skills to work effectively in an international environment and respond to the challenges and opportunities in a digital era. The training was delivered through a mix of online and in-person training in the NAPA campus.

As digital transformation is a key focus for the Government of Vietnam, one of the participants said:

“Leaders play an important role in supporting digital transformation and ensuring its effective implementation. Segment 2 of the programme has provided us with both the local and international perspectives of digital transformation in the public sector organisations. We have gained knowledge that we can learn and apply in our work."

During the programme, the participants were also exposed to experiential learning methods such as role plays and simultation exercises to help them immerse in the learning. Through these, they were able to sharpen their skills in protocol and negotiations, especially for international engagements. One participant commented:

“The learning materials and exercises were well-designed. We have gained practical skills on how we can work effectively and connect with international partners.”
